USC Football: Trojan Recruits Dominate at Spring Camp Circuits + Recruiting Notebook
Across the country, several USC recruiting targets have been making the rounds at various 7-on-7 camps, combines, and showcases. Many of these recruits are either top priorities of the Trojan recruiting staff or are themselves being recruited heavily by competing programs. Several big-time recruits were in attendance at Under Armor's Houston regional combine/showcase this past weekend including five-star (247 Sports) wide receiver Kaliq Lockett out of Sachse High School (Sachse, TX), and a pair of four-star Texas receivers Kelshaun Johnson and Andrew Marsh.
Lockett, featured in the Tweet above, has USC high on his list of prospective schools he's looking at. 247 Sports thinks the 6-foot-2, 175-pound the 11th best recruit in the class of 2025, and it looks like he'll end up deciding between either USC, Texas, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State, Florida State, and Texas A&M. Lockett will spend one of his five available official visits at USC, which bodes well for the Trojans considering the esteem of the programs also in contention.
Last weekend, Under Armor, held the same showcase in Dallas where 2026 defensive lineman and USC recruit Danny Beale earned DL MVP honors. Check out some of his reps in the embedded video below.
Two more elite defensive tackles who are high on the Trojan's target list also shined at their respective camps this past weekend. 2025's highest-ranked defensive tackle recruit (247 Sports) Elijah Griffin has USC on his top schools list, and he just visited USC this past weekend.
Griffin has been 'crystal balled' to Georgia, but Trojan defensive line coach Eric Henderson has been able to still keep USC in the mix for the 6-foot-5, 285-pound game-wrecker out of Georgia. Additionally, On3's number one overall recruit in the class of 2026 Jahkeem Stewart, whom coach Henderson is personally recruiting, looked every bit the part at the Houston Under Armor event. Stewart plans on visiting a couple of programs this April, and USC is one of them.
In other news, elite 2026 cornerback and USC target Brandon Lockhart just received an offer from USC rival Notre Dame. Lockhart is one of the only local prospects who might be able to contribute right away at USC, so he, in theory, should be getting even more attention from the Trojan recruiting battery after the Notre Dame offer.
And lastly, USC's lone class of 2025 commit Julian Lewis (16th overall recruit in the country) announced that he's taking an official visit to in-state Georgia. The question arises, is USC in trouble of losing Lewis? Well the fact that Lewis is taking an official visit elsewhere in and of itself may not be a big red flag for Trojan fans, but the fact that he's taking a visit to a program like Georgia, which is just down the road from Lewis (as opposed to across the country like USC), might be cause for concern regardless of what Lewis has said publicly about the visit.
Lewis may not be the top overall recruit in his class like Caleb Williams was, but Lincoln Riley has proved that he doesn't need the top overall recruit in order to have an effective quarterback who's capable of leading his program.
