Virginia shortstop Griff O'Ferrall delivered an outstanding hitting performance to power the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team to a five-game sweep over Chinese Taipei in the 20th edition of the International Friendship Series between the two teams. O'Ferrall led all hitters in the series with a staggering .619 batting average, going 13 for 21 at the plate and rightfully earning the award for the Most Outstanding Hitter of the series.

O'Ferrall set the tone in the opening game, going 3 for 5 with a pair of steals and a run scored to lead USA to a 7-3 victory. O'Ferrall picked up another hit in game 2, a 5-1 win for the United States.

In USA's dominant series-clinching 10-0 win in game 3, O'Ferrall was just a triple short of the cycle, going 3 for 4 with a home run and three runs scored.

Fellow Cavalier Jay Woolfolk also pitched in game 3, tossing a 1-2-3 inning to help preserve the United States shutout.

In game 4, O'Ferrall delivered his best hitting performance of the series, going 4 for 5 with four RBI as the United States routed Chinese Taipei 17-1.

And in the series finale, O'Ferrall capped off the series by scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh of USA's 7-6 walk-off win to complete the sweep. He went 2 for 3 with two runs scored in the game, bringing his series batting numbers to 13 for 21 (.619 average) with nine runs scored. Woolfolk also pitched another 1-2-3 inning of relief in game 5, a crucial zero on the board when USA was still trailing by a run.

O'Ferrall, Woolfolk, and the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team now turns the page to their second international five-game series against Japan from July 7th through 12th. Games 1-3 will be held in Cary, North Carolina and games 4 and 5 will be played in Charleston, South Carolina.
