Virginia sophomore left fielder Colin Tuft is transferring to Tulane, he announced on social media on Thursday afternoon.

Tuft appeared in 78 games over the last two seasons at UVA, including 41 games as a sophomore this past season. In 41 games primarily playing in left field, Tuft batted .234 with 22 hits, 17 RBI, and one home run. Tuft began splitting time with Virginia freshman Harrison Didawick down the stretch, with Didawick getting the start in left field in the final four games of UVA's postseason run after Tuft suffered a minor shoulder injury in the Super Regional.

With Didawick likely to earn the starting role in left field entering his sophomore season in 2024, this is a sensible move for Tuft to get a fresh start at Tulane. By virtue of winning the American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, Tulane made the NCAA Tournament in 2023 despite holding a 19-40 overall record, one of the lowest winning percentages of any NCAA Tournament team in history. In 2023, Tulane had two former Cavaliers on its roster in pitchers Cristian Sanchez and Billy Price.
