The Virginia men's basketball team has updated its official roster for the 2023-2024 season, revealing the jersey numbers for each of the seven newcomers joining the team for next season.

Dante Harris, who transferred to UVA from Georgetown back in December, will wear #1. Harris wore #2 in his time with the Hoyas, but seems to be making the change to #1, worn most recently by Jayden Gardner and most notably by Justin Anderson. Reece Beekman is still listed on the roster at #2, as he has declared for the NBA Draft, but has maintained his collegiate eligibility and could still return to UVA next season.

Merrimack transfer forward Jordan Minor will wear #22, the same number he wore over his four seasons with the Warriors. Francisco Caffaro wore #22 at Virginia for the last five years and John Crotty (1987-1991) is the most notable Wahoo to have worn that number.

St. Thomas transfer guard Andrew Rohde will wear #4. Rohde's jersey number was #3 in his freshman season at St. Thomas, but that jersey number is retired at Virginia for Jeff Lamp. Armaan Franklin wore #4 at UVA for the last two seasons and the number was most notably worn by Junior Burrough (1991-1995) and Jimmy Miller (1981-1985).

Oklahoma transfer forward Jake Groves will continue to wear the #34 jersey number he had in his time with the Sooners. Rick Carlisle (1981-1984) was the most notable Cavalier to wear #34, but Groves will be the first Wahoo to wear the number for Virginia since Jeff Jones in 2016.

Incoming freshman forward Blake Buchanan wore #0 in high school and it appears he will inherit that number from Kihei Clark, who wore the #0 for the last five years. Devon Hall wore the #0 for the five years before that.

Freshman guard Elijah Gertrude wore #3 during his high school career at Hudson Catholic in New Jersey, but again, that number is retired at Virginia for Jeff Lamp, so Gertrude will instead wear #12, worn most notably by De'Andre Hunter and Joe Harris and most recently by Chase Coleman.

Freshman forward Anthony Robinson wore #20 in high school, but that jersey number is retired at Virginia for Bryant Stith, so Robinson will wear #21, worn most notably by Harold Deane (1993-1997) and Roger Mason Jr. (1999-2002) and most recently by Kadin Shedrick.

Additionally, Virginia has added Desmond Roberts, a walk-on freshman guard from St. Anne's-Belfield in Charlottesville to its roster for next season. Roberts will wear #5, worn most notably by Kyle Guy and Curtis Staples (1994-1998) and most recently by Ben Vander Plas.

The 2023-2024 roster also includes official size measurements for each of the newcomers:

  • Blake Buchanan: 6'11", 215 pounds
  • Dante Harris: 6'0", 170 pounds
  • Andrew Rohde: 6'6", 185 pounds
  • Elijah Gertrude: 6'4", 180 pounds
  • Anthony Robinson: 6'10", 238 pounds
  • Jordan Minor: 6'8", 240 pounds
  • Jake Groves: 6'9", 216 pounds
