A walk and a single put two runners on with two outs and then Willie Hurt entered the game to pinch hit and came up with an RBI single to make it 10-8. Another RBI single made it 11-8 and then VCU got the final out. Hokies lead by three heading to the 9th.

Preston Crowl entered the game for VT and struck out the side. Hokies lead 9-8 heading to the bottom of the 8th.
Bottom of the 7th
VT got a leadoff single, but nothing else. They lead 9-8 heading to the 8th.

A single and an error put two runners on for the Rams and then a sac fly scored one runner to make it 9-6. An RBI single cut the lead to 9-7 and then another single put runners on the corners with two outs. Another RBI single made it 9-8 and then VT made another pitching change, sending in Danny Lazaro to replace Robertson. He got the final out, but the lead has been shortened to one run heading to the bottom of the 7th.
Bottom of the 6th
A hit batter, a single, and a walk loaded the bases for the Hokies with one out and then a bases loaded walk broke the tie and gave VT the lead 6-5. An error scored three more runs for the Hokies and they now lead 9-5 heading to the 7th.
Top of the 6th
VT gives up a two out double, but no runs in the 6th. Game is tied 5-5 heading to the bottom of the 6th

A one out solo home run tied the game 5-5. VT got the final outs, but no longer have the lead.

A single, a walk, and an error loaded the bases and then Grube blasted a grand slam to give the Hokies the lead back 5-4. VCU made a pitching change that got them out of the inning. but VT has the lead back.
Top of the 4th
A pair of walks and a single loaded the bases for VCU, and a after a strikeout, a 2-RBI single gave the Rams the lead. Luke Craytor came in for the Hokies to replace Berzonski, but he surrendered a 2-RBI single to widen the lead to 4-1. Hokies got the final out, but they now trail by three.
Bottom of the 3rd
Virginia Tech got the bases loaded, but scored no runs. VT leads 1-0 heading to the 4th.
Top of the 3rd
Josh Berzonski replaced Swift to start the 3rd inning. He gave up a one out single, but nothing else. Hokies lead 1-0 heading to the bottom of the 3rd.
Bottom of the 2nd
Lutterman got a leadoff home run to give VT a 1-0 lead. The Hokies went down in order after that, but they have the lead.
