Virginia Tech put runners on the corners with nobody out. A groundout from Sam Grube and a strikeout from Pete Daniel got the Hokies to two outs before Henry Cooke was back picked by the Boston College catcher, bringing an end to the game.

E8, BC leads 8-7:

After Boston College loaded the bases with one out, Brendan Yagesh grounded the next two batters into a fielder's choice, keeping Boston College from adding insurance in the eighth inning. Virginia Tech will need one run to keep the game alive.

Virginia Tech put together a two-out rally to cut the BC lead to one. A walk from Sam Gates and an Owen Petrich single put runners on first and second before Nick Locurto tripled to right field — the Hokies' second triple of the game — to score a pair of runs.
