2021 4-Star Virginia Tech Commit DJ Harvey Named as Preseason Second Team All-American by MaxPreps

When 2021 4-star California defensive back DJ Harvey committed to the Hokies on July 4th, it was clear that Virginia Tech was not only getting one of its top targets, but also one of the top all-around players in the country.
Harvey, who was told by the coaching staff that he could play on offense, defense, and on special teams for Virginia Tech when he arrives in Blacksburg, has the opportunity to become a very special player for the Hokies.
This week, MaxPreps released its Preseason All-American Team for the fall, and unsurprisingly, Harvey made the cut as a Second Team player in the "All-Purpose" position.
Here's what MaxPreps had to say about Harvey:
"One of the best two-way players in the country. He has 123 receptions for 2,112 yards and 13 touchdowns to go with 11 interceptions over the last two seasons."
Harvey is rated as the 34th-best player in the state of California and the 28th-best cornerback in the country for the 2021 recruiting class. At the time of his commitment, he was the first prospect in Virginia Tech's recruiting class to eclipse the nation's Top 500 prospects, coming in at number 383.
Since then, Harvey has been joined by wide receiver Tray Curry, a high 3-star prospect who committed to Tech earlier this week. Curry is marked as the 422nd-best player nationally by 247Sports.
Regardless of whether or not there is a high school football season for Harvey at Sierra Canyon this fall, expectations will be extremely high when he arrives at Virginia Tech next year.
