Running back Christian Turner became the second Wake Forest player in as many days to find a new school, committing to Indiana.

Turner entered the transfer portal Dec. 5 after being with the Deacons for two seasons. The graduate rushed for 1,022 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career with Wake Forest.

In 2022, Turner split carries for the Deacs with fellow starter Justice Ellison. This season was the most productive of his four-year college career — he totaled 516 yards, seven rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown on 128 carries (4.0 ypc). His best performance of the year came in the season opener against VMI, when he scampered for 100 yards and two scores on just 13 carries (7.7 ypc).

BREAKING: Notre Dame lands Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman in transfer portal

Wake Forest now has two running backs who have found new homes through the transfer portal this winter. Quinton Cooley announced his transfer to Liberty on Dec. 21.

The Deacs will now go into the 2023 season leaning on a trio of Ellison, Will Towns and former four-star recruit Demond Claiborne.

This is Turner’s second time finding a new school in the portal — he transferred to Wake Forest from Michigan prior to the 2021-2022 season. He has one remaining year of eligibility with the Hoosiers.
