In this story:

In Alabama, Kalen DeBoer was asked about bringing some of his former players and/or recruits from the University of Washington football team to Tuscaloosa, and whether he felt any remorse in doing this.

His response was, well, they're in the transfer portal, so they might as well come to the Crimson Tide rather than go somewhere else, where they can play for coaches who already know and trust them.

Jedd Fisch, DeBoer's UW replacement, recently faced the same inquisition and his answer was similarly competitive and unrepentant.

"They said it themselves, that they committed to the people, that they committed to what we wanted to offer them as coaches and as mentors," Fisch said of the transfers. "We tried to do everything we possibly could to create an environment, that they realize, just like my own children realize, the rules don't change just because we moved houses."

In other words, according to both coaches, all's fair in love and the portal.

Exactly one month since DeBoer took the Alabama job, the scorecard for players following their football coach from the old school to the new one — counting veterans, transfers, newly signed recruits and committed prospects — goes like this: Washington 14, Alabama 4.

While UW fans feeling jilted have been referring to their departed coach as "De-Traitor," Arizona followers probably have something a little stronger to say about Fisch, who's welcomed three times as many players from Tucson as the SEC school has taken in former Huskies.

The good news for all involved is none of these schools will play each other anytime soon, giving everyone plenty of opportunity to forgive and forget.

In breaking down this baker's dozen of Arizona-related incoming, the Huskies will pick up three former Wildcats starters, a pair of reserves, five high school recruits who were signed, a Power 5 transfer, a junior-college transfer, a 2024 commit and a 2025 commit.

Here's a look at each of the 14 desert imports or pickpocketed players, depending on how you look at it from Seattle to Tucson.

RAIDING ARIZONA

1. Dash Beierly, QB — The solidly built 6-foot-1, 215-pound signal-caller from Southern California flipped his 2025 commitment from Arizona to the UW, coming off a junior season in which he completed 143 of 230 passes for 1,966 yards and 17 touchdowns, and rushed for another 554 yards and 12 scores.

2. Bryce Butler, DL — The 6-foot-5, 295-pound defensive lineman from Toronto, Canada, by way of Garden City Community College in Kansas, asked for a scholarship release and signed with the UW. He left the two-year school ranks with 59 tackles, including 25.5 tackles for loss and 8 sacks, plus 3 pass break-ups and a forced fumble.

3. Rahshawn Clark, CB — The Seattle-area cornerback was committed to California, Arizona and finally to Washington at the second signing date, continually flipping his pledge. The 6-foot, 180-pound player also drew offers from Michigan State, Louisville, Oregon, Oregon State, Colorado, Washington State and Utah among others.

4. Jonah Coleman, RB — Fisch calls Coleman one of the top running backs in the nation for his all-around ability to run, catch and block. The 5-foot-9, 225-pound junior led Arizona in rushing this past season with 203 carries for 1,243 yards and 9 touchdowns, and came up with 25 receptions for 283 yards and a score.

5. Russell Davis II, ER — The son of a former NFL player and Super Bowl winner by the same name, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound junior edge rusher was a two-year reserve for Arizona who had a collective 28 tackles for 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in Tucson.

6. Audric Harris, WR — Giving the Huskies another Las Vegas-area receiver to replace the graduated Rome Odunze and transferred Germie Bernard, the 6-foot, 185-pound Harris drew his Arizona scholarship release and will join the UW after catching 51 passes for 1,051 yards and 13 touchdowns for a 12-0 Bishop Gorman High School team. For whatever reason, he hasn't signed yet.

7. Justin Hylkema, OT — Known as "Moose," the huge 6-foot-8, 315-pound prospect from Santa Clara, California, asked for his scholarship release and flipped from Arizona. He'll report to Montlake in June looking to play right away on a rebuilt Husky offensive line.

8. Adam Mohammed RB —The 6-foot, 195-pound player from Glendale, Arizona, asked out of his Wildcats scholarship, and will bring high school career totals of 5,180 yards and 113 touchdowns rushing to Montlake. A play-maker always looking for the end zone, he returned six kicks for TDs, had a pick-6 and returned a fumble for a score.

9. Ephesians Prysock, CB — Fisch calls this guy an NFL cornerback because he's tall at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, tough after starting 16 times in 23 Arizona appearances and even playing in the Alamo Bowl with a serious injury, and he's talented, getting named All-Pac-12 honorable mention last season as a sophomore. He had 77 tackles, 7 pass break-ups and an interception for the Wildcats.

10. Jordan Shaw, CB — This 6-foot-1, 180-pound corner played his freshman year at Indiana, appearing in four games and starting twice for the Big Ten team, before transferring to Arizona. The Southern California native has four seasons of eligibility remaining.

11. Isaiah Ward, ER — Another Arizona starter, the long and lean 6-foot-5, 225-pound pass rusher opened 11 of 13 games as a sophomore and piled up 30 tackles, which included 5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks, plus he forced a pair of fumbles.

12. Anthony Ward, LB — Isaiah Ward's older brother spent two seasons at the UW as a walk-on linebacker who couldn't get on the field and became a big-play special-teams member at Arizona. He blocked a Utah punt last season and returned it 2 yards for a touchdown. He'll have a Husky scholarship this time.

13. Demond Williams Jr., QB — This defection greatly wounded the Arizona faithful, with the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Williams asking for his scholarship release and his departure robbing the Wildcats of the ultimate dual-threat player for the future. In four seasons at Basha High School in Chandler, Williams completed 645 of 903 passes for 10,035 yards and 93 touchdowns, with just 12 interceptions. He also rushed 480 times for 2,783 yards and 42 scores. He was named the state's 6A Offensive Player of the Year last season.

14. Rahim Wright, CB — The former quarterback turned cornerback from Southern California asked for his scholarship release from Arizona and will bring an aggressive defensive back to the Huskies. The 6-foot, 175-pounder finished with 114 tackles as a senior for a 12-2 team.
