In this story:

For the first time since 2009, Washington didn't have a single player selected in this past April's NFL Draft.

The reason: every player who would've been drafted decided to return for the 2023 season.

As a result, 19 Huskies were named to the 99th East-West Shrine Bowl watch list announced on Monday. The annual showcase game, which will be held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, next February, released a list of 1,000 players from all four levels of college football who are eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft.

UW players named to East-West watch list: quarterback Michael Penix Jr.; running backs Dillon Johnson and Daniyel Ngata; wide receivers Giles Jackson, Ja’Lynn Polk, Jalen McMillan and Rome Odunze; tight end Devin Culp; offensive guards Julius Buelow and Troy Fautanu; defensive tackle Tuli Letuligasenoa; edge rushers Zion Tupuola-Fetui and Bralen Trice; linebackers Edefuan Ulofoshio and Ralen Goforth; safeties Asa Turner, Mishael Powell and Dominique Hampton; and cornerback Jabbar Muhammad

The inclusion of both transfer running backs — Johnson and Ngata — over Cameron Davis who finished with the fourth-most touchdowns on the ground in the Pac-12 last season is intriguing.

All three are expected to be in the rotation this season, with Johnson considred the most complete back of the three entering fall camp. The Mississippi State transfer was limited by injury this spring but is expected to be a full participant come August.

Washington and Oregon tied for the most players named to the watch list from the Pac-12 with 19 each, followed by USC (15), Utah (14) and Oregon State (13).
