The University of Washington football team didn't budge at No. 8 in the latest Associated Press poll, but the Huskies now have plenty of Pac-12 company in the nation's top 25 — as one of eight conference entries ranked.

The Huskies stayed put after Texas beat Alabama 34-24 in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, enabling the Longhorns, coached by former UW football leader Steve Sarkisian, to leapfrog from No. 10 to 4 and send the Crimson Tide tumbling from No. 3 to 10.

The bigger news was Washington State (2-0) and UCLA (2-0) entering the poll for the first time this season, at No. 23 and 24, respectively. They joined USC (3-0) at No. 5, the Huskies (2-0) holding steady at No. 8, Utah (2-0) at No. 12, Oregon (2-0) at No. 13, Oregon State (2-0) at No. 16 and Colorado (2-0) at No. 18.

The Cougars and Beavers, of course, are the only remaining members of the Pac-12 for 2024 who haven't joined other leagues fleeing after a media rights wasn't reached to meet everyone's satisfaction.

Only the Southeastern Conference previously has offered up as many as eight teams ranked, doing so multiple times, and even had 10 teams in the AP poll all at once in 2015.

The Huskies remained ranked right behind Penn State, pulling 1,102 voter points, which was 102 fewer than the Nittany Lions.

On top of the poll is two-time defending champion Georgia, which received 55 first-place votes, to stay well ahead of Michigan, Florida State and Texas, which received 2, 3 and 2 first-place votes, respectively.

By moving up to No. 5, USC gave the poll a representative from each Power Five conference for the first time since Sept. 24, 2017.
