In this story:

Those who expect perfection from this University of Washington football team cite the lack of a running game and pick at a defense that has been efficient rather than overly dominant.

Well, let the record show after two lopsided victories that these Huskies have an overabundance of talented players, even if the majority of them throw and catch passes from unlimited formations and roles, and that's primarily how they're going to keep winning.

Besides, it's early yet.

A true test will come this weekend, two time zones away, against a Michigan State team that will try to do what Arizona State, the last team to beat Kalen DeBoer's Huskies, did 10 games ago: pull an upset without its head coach on the sideline.

No, these Montlake crusaders have as much skill-position talent as any team in the country, as shown in the revealing images provided here by UW student and exquisite photographer Skylar Lin.

The Huskies simply should have either Rome Odunze or Jalen McMillan chasing Michael Penix Jr. passes, but not both. They're each No. 1 receivers. They're 1A and 1B.

Just look at Lin's opening image to this story of McMillan running down the field, with both feet several inches off the ground — yes, it was if he was flying or at the very least wearing some sort of wing suit. He has four touchdowns in two games already.

Odunze had 7 catches for 107 yards and this 2-yard touchdown against Tulsa, but he didn't have one of his best games -- he dropped a pair of passes. Oh, well. He has season totals of 14 receptions for 239 yards and 2 TD catches, 3 scores overall.

Dunn had the Husky hit of the year so far, leveling Tulsa kick returner Jordan Ford with a vicious upper-body collision, all perfectly legal, still echoing through Husky Stadium..

Might Fabiculanan be the most improved UW defender? He has a pair of interceptions so far. He nearly had a third on this play, getting his hands on the ball before settling for a pass break-up.

The normally fearsome and suddenly gentle Bralen Trice escorts a young fan to the middle of the field, with his fellow Husky co-captains, for the pre-game coin toss.

Tunuufi left Tulsa players crumbled behind him after registering his ninth career sack, an amazing total considering he's changed positions this season and started only a handful of UW games.

Holtzclaw is waiting for guys to graduate so he can play more, but he's actually not waiting for anyone or anything that gets in his way. He could be another 10-15 pounds heavier, but he still has enough bulk to split these defenders.

Hampton has linebacker size in a safety's body, as this Tulsa player painfully learned. The Husky defender brings a decided physical style to the defensive unit.

Until Saturday, Green had been the facilitator, sending snap after snap to the Husky place-kicker and punter. Finally, Dylan Morris delivered a pinpoint pass to him for a 2-point conversion, in the ultimate UW trickery.

Brailsford, a UW offensive-line star in the making, began the Tulsa game at starting right guard and ended it as the No. 1 center. It's almost hard to believe a player as talented as him was allowed to redshirt last season.

Penix looks good even when down on one knee and turning his upper body like a tank turrent in pre-game warm-ups. He's completed 57 of 78 passes for 859 yards and 8 scores, midseason or even final totals for some QBs.

Then there's Odunze, leading off our 10 gallery pics, similarly airborne, only contorting like some sort of high-wire act hanging off the Space Needle. He has 3 touchdowns in two outings.

We have an image of quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who exudes cool when he's standing in the pocket, sleeping in his bed and, as captured by Lin, stretching before kickoff. His two-game passing totals of 57-for-78 for 859 yards and 8 touchdowns, with just one interception, would be welcomed as midseason or even season stats for a lot of guys in Power 5.

For those of you who still don't think the Huskies have quite enough defensive firepower, check out the gallery. It might change your mind. Lin snapped off a photo of redshirt freshman safety Tristan Dunn right as he delivered the most vicious hit of the season on a kickoff.

Needless to say, it was a Dunn deal.

Similarly, Lin caught redshirt freshman edge rusher Lance "Showtime" Holtzclaw splitting two blockers on the pass rush, safety Kam Fabiculanan practically glued to a receiver and knocking the ball away, safety Dom Hampton laying out a Tulsa receiver and edge rusher Voi Tunuufi celebrating his ninth career sack, most of them coming as a sub.

There is a soft side to this UW football team, as well, with fearsome All-America edge-rusher candidate Bralen Trice photographed holding hands with a wide-eyed youngster accompanying the Husky captains to the coin toss.
