The Cincinnati Bengals revealed on Friday they have lost $275-million quarterback Joe Burrow to a season-ending wrist injury, leaving former University of Washington signal-caller Jake Browning and others to replace him. 

Burrow tore ligaments in his right wrist shortly before halftime of a 34-20 to the Baltimore Ravens, bringing Browning off the bench for just his second NFL appearance.

The Bengals are 5-5 with seven games remaining on the schedule. They next play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 26.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Browning, who was a four-year starter for the Huskies in 2015-2018, has been in the NFL for five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and the Bengals, but largely as a practice-squad player.

Against Baltimore, he engineered a third-quarter drive for a field goal and threw a 2-yard TD pass to Ja'Marr Chase with 1:08 left to play but mostly struggled to move the Bengals down the field, getting sacked three times.

Browning completed 8 of 14 passes for 68 yards and the lone score to Chase and rushed four times for 40 yards. 

The Bengals will need to find another quarterback to fill Burrow's roster spot and compete with Browning going forward and journeyman AJ McCarron, the only other QB on the roster and formerly of Alabama, yet pickings are somewhat thin. 

Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns recently lost starting signal-callers Kirk Cousins and Deshaun Watson and went looking for immediate help at that position, this after the New York Jets lost quarterback Aaron Rodgers to open the season, the New York Giants had Daniel Jones go down and the Indianapolis Colts had Anthony Richardson go out.

The Vikings ultimately traded for former Arizona Cardinals QB Joshua Dobbs, and he led Minnesota to a 27-19 victory over the New Orleans Saints last week in his first time out, while the Browns reportedly are working out former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Joe Flacco.
