UW: The Good, the Egad and the Ugly

The Good
There wasn’t much positive coming out of Chris Petersen’s Monday press conference. His Huskies are 5-4. They haven’t survived the fourth quarter against the good teams. The UW coach cited execution, confidence and a belief as traits that haven’t been evident. The positive? His team plays on Friday night at Oregon State, giving it one fewer day to think about the latest setback and seek redemption. "I couldn't wait to get out there."
The Egad
Quizzed about quarterback Jacob Eason’s puzzling tendency to spin out of the pocket and scramble rather than stand tall against the pass rush, Petersen said, “We’re trying to emphasize stay in the pocket—step up, not out. We don’t get that except in the games.”
And the Ugly
Petersen, pressed on having this season bottom out some, said he won’t change a thing. He’ll just stick with his system and have his team press on. Try to get young guys to grow up. Asked about the effect the sudden downturn has had on him personally, he said, “I don’t feel a thing. My blood pressure doesn’t go up until I come in here and talk to you guys.” He was serious.
