Connor Gilbreath Talks About His UW Offer

The Butte College tight end discusses a possible position change and more

If there's one thing that any college coach should know about Connor Gilbreath, it's that he loves to block. T

he 6-foot-6, 255-pound tight end takes a lot of pride in blocking and weightlifting, and, after one look at his film, it's very easy to see why Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and offensive-line coach Scott Huff extended an offer to the product of Butte College.

"[Grubb] said he liked my physicality and how I finish guys [as a blocker]," Gilbreath said. To no one's surprise, Grubb's analysis was spot on.

Saying that Gilbreath likes to finish blocks is an understatement. During one play on his film, he takes an opponent and pushes them clear off camera about 30 yards downfield. It might remind some tape fanatics of current Husky right tackle Roger Rosengarten's high school film.

He also holds offers from Portland State and Miami, and said the Hurricanes' offer stands at both positions, but he's had more contact with tight-ends coach Stephen Field. Gilbreath said he's planning on taking an official visit to Miami on June 2 and is in the process of setting up an official visit with the Huskies, as well.

Gilbreath said Huff and Grubb want to add him to the big weekend of official visitors slated to begin on June 23. It's clear the coaching staff likes to reserve that weekend for some of its highest-priority visitors and adding him to that list speaks volumes about where Gilbreath ranks on the coaching staff's recruiting board.

Gilbreath said that he plans to make a decision by the time his summer term at Butte College ends on July 20. He's a "four for three" as his redshirt is still available, and would almost certainly be used during the 2023 season wherever he decides to go to school.
