Could Thaddeus Dixon Win A Starting Job?

The junior college transfer is looking to build on a big spring

It didn't take long for cornerback Thaddeus Dixon to assert himself after transferring to Washington from Long Beach City College. He recorded three interceptions over two practices in the spring and played with an edge, sparking a few scrums as well.

Kalen DeBoer said that the Huskies grew to respect Dixon rather quickly and embraced him with open arms. With one cornerback spot still seemingly up for grabs, can the one-time Oregon State commit win it before the season starts?

It's not going to be an easy road for Dixon to win the starting job, as both of his competitors have more snaps under their belt. Sophomore Jaivion Green took his licks as a freshman, but the big-bodied corner has improved in leaps and bounds, according to the coaching staff.

Green appeared in 10 games during his true freshman season and showed some flashes, but needs to be more consistent. Dixon's other competitor, redshirt sophomore Elijah Jackson has struggled with staying on the field consistently.

Jackson has appeared in 10 career games and is looking to take a big step forward in his fourth year on campus. He's stated that he has taken extra measures to take care of his body this year and is hoping to build on the success he had in spring.

Dixon brings an old school "Death Row Defense" mentality to the Husky secondary whenever he's on the field. He loves to play press coverage and get his hands on opposing receivers as soon as he possibly can. With great ball skills while also being a perfect fit for the scheme co-defensive coordinator Chuck Morrell wants to run on the outside, that could give Dixon an edge for the starting job coming into fall camp.
