Imagine a future University of Washington defensive unit that has "The Blanket" playing alongside "Lockdown" in the secondary with "Showtime" coming hard off the edge.

The possibility is there with former Kansas State corner Will Lee III, who refers to himself as The Blanket, publicly listing Texas A&M, Louisville and the Huskies as his schools of focus following a week in the transfer portal.

That's the Blanket, as in someone who covers everything. Oh, the marketing skills of today's well-traveled college football player.

If he visited or joined the UW, Lee no doubt would be introduced right away to current freshman cornerback Curley "Lockdown" Reed and redshirt freshman edge rusher Lance "Showtime" Holtzclaw to compare football monikers.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Lee, who has two seasons of eligibility remaning, is a St. Louis-area product who redshirted before playing a season for 2022 JC national champion Iowa Western Community College.

He spent this past fall as an 11-game starter for an 8-4 Kansas State team headed to the Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando, Florida, without him to play North Carolina State.

For the Wildcats, Lee finished with 42 tackles, including 1.5 for lost yardage, and intercepted passes in lopsided wins over Troy and Houston. He also came up 6 pass break-ups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

The Huskies, who probably need safeties more than corners for 2024, will likely have to replace Jabbar Muhammad, another Big 12 transplant only from Oklahoma State. Muhammad, recently a second-team All-Pac-12 selection, probably is a one-year player for the Huskies though he has another season of eligibility remaining.

Lee originally committed to play for Oregon State in July 2022 before changing his mind three months later and signing with Kansas State. He also held offers from Iowa and Iowa State.

The Huskies already have a Kansas State transfer on their roster in redshirt freshman offensive tackle Jalen Klemm, who's appeared in seven games in a reserve role.

Klemm is the son of Adrian Klemm, a former NFL offensive lineman with three Super Bowl rings who now coaches the line for the New England Patriots.
