Jedd Fisch, in a recent podcast, memorably told how he wanted his University of Washington football team to become the NFL's 33rd franchise.

Clearly, he's been drawing a lot of attention to the Huskies by turning his coaching staff into Legends with Whistles, the next generation, a group filled with high-profile pro football names.

On Saturday, the UW added Jake Lynch — son of John Lynch, San Francisco 49ers general manager and Hall of Fame NFL safety — as a defensive graduate assistant coach.

A former Stanford linebacker, the younger Lynch begins his coaching career after interning and working in finance for two years after completing his playing career.

Fisch now has a Belichick (Steve), Carroll (Brennan), Del Rio (Luke) and Lynch (Jake) on his coaching staff, with the first two serving as his defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Lynch played against the Huskies as a reserve linebacker in 2020 and 2021, sharing in a 31-26 victory in Seattle and a 20-13 defeat in Palo Alto, respectively.

Lynch accompanied his father, a former Stanford and NFL safety, to his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Canton, Ohio, in 2021.

The Huskies' newly hired Fisch, who spent 14 seasons as an NFL assistant coach, has emphasized he wants to his pro football connections to build his program.

His UW staff has 36 years of NFL coaching experience and two of these men are former players at that level.
