Tight end Mark Redman, probably the most significant player loss for the University of Washington football team following the Jimmy Lake firing, will finish his college career at Louisville.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-6, 255-pound Redman revealed on social media he will join the Cardinals after spending  two seasons each with the UW and San Diego State.

The California native played immediately as a true freshman for the Huskies during the COVID-shortened season of 2020 and in all 16 games during his time in Montlake.

He was considered as proficient as a blocker as he was as a receiver. He caught just a pass for 5 yards in 2021, coming in the Huskies' 31-24 overtime victory over California.

Two years ago, Redman entered the transfer portal for the first time shortly after Kalen DeBoer was hired to replace the ousted Lake. He registered concern to others the tight-end position would be de-emphasized in the new offense and, after watching how Jack Westover and Devin Culp have been utilized, he couldn't have been more wrong about that.

At San Diego State, Redman caught 58 passes for 633 yards and 5 scores in two his seasons, leading the Aztecs in receiving this fall with 38 catches for 408 yards and 3 scores.

He switched schools a second time after his Mountain West Conference team slipped to 4-8 and coach Brady Hoke retired.
