Hawaii is Flying High With Byrd and Ward

The University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will arrive in Seattle this weekend flying high on the wings of one of the most explosive offenses in all of college football.
The U of H currently ranks fourth nationally in passing (428.5). Quarterback Cole McDonald is currently No. 3 in total offense (419.5), as well as No. 4 in both passing yards (399.5) and passing TDs (8). But two of the Rainbow Warriors most electrifying players are his wide receivers - Cedric Byrd II and JoJo Ward.
Cedric Byrd is No. 2 in receiving yards (142.5) and No. 3 in receptions (10.5) while JoJo Ward is the nation’s leader in receiving TDs (5). Both players have been instrumental in Hawaii’s wins this season - both against Pac 12 opponents (Arizona and Oregon State). If Hawaii plans on leaving Husky Stadium this Saturday with a perfect 3-0 record vs the Pac 12, these two will need to have spectacular days.
The Huskies will need to limit the big play ability of both Ward and Byrd if they want to come out victorious. The run and shoot offense that Hawaii runs is different than any that the Dawgs will see this season. The Husky defense will need to be fundamentally sound and assignment perfect to be successful vs these smaller, yet dynamite receivers on Saturday afternoon.
Here is what Cedric Ward and JoJo Ward have been doing to Pac 12 defenses so far in 2019:
