Here's a different take on Dad's Weekend for the University of Washington football program.

Staying true to his word that he will have NFL coaching royalty continuously wandering through the halls of the Husky landscape, Jedd Fisch has arranged for former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick to be a keynote speaker at the Husky Football Coaches Clinic on April 5 and 6, capping off the first week of spring practice.

Belichick, with six Super Bowl championships on his coaching ledger, is the father, of course, of new UW defensive coordinator Steve Belichick.

Fisch, for that matter, worked alongside both Belichicks while serving as the Patriots' quarterbacks coach in 2020.

Earlier, the UW announced that Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider would also address the clinic audience.

Since taking over on Jan. 16, Fisch has promised his Husky football program will exhibit a strong NFL influence in multiple ways — each intended to attract top talent and improve the chances of these players advancing to pro football careers.

Fisch's UW coordinators are the sons of former NFL coaches Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick, in Brennan and Steve, respectively.

Collectively, Fisch's staff offers 36 years of NFL coaching experience, with the new Husky head coach spending 14 seasons with seven pro franchises, plus he has a pair of his UW assistants who have played in the NFL.

Fisch whimsically has said he wants the UW to become the 33rd NFL franchise. Belichick at the podium in Montlake is one way to get there.
