Huskies Offer Another Cal Poly Player

In this story:
If you can cover and regularly get your hand on the football, as former Cal Poly cornerback Donovan Saunders is finding out, there's a substantial market for those talents.
A 6-foot-3, 185-pound sophomore who entered the transfer portal on Dec. 3, Donovan has received offers from Georgia State, Hawaii, Houston, Illinois, Louisiana Tech, South Florida, TCU, Utah, Washington State and, most recently, Washington. He has two seasons of eligibility left.
Donovan was one of the few bright spots for a 3-8 Mustangs team that featured former Husky legacy player Sam Huard at quarterback.

Playing in 10 games, he came up with 3 interceptions and 11 pass break-ups, with his performance earning him second-team All-Big Sky recognition.
As a true freshman, Donovan appeared in seven games, starting two, and supplied 2 interceptions and 4 pass break-ups. One of his Mustangs teammates was tight end Josh Cuevas, who transferred to the UW last winter.

Donovan came to Cal Poly from Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego. One of his suitors back then was Fresno State, specifically Chuck Morrell, now the Husky co-defensive coordinator, which has helped streamline this second recruiting process.
