In this story:

The University of Washington football program is finding the more the college game changes, the more it stays the same, which is a little mind-boggling to say the least.

Twenty-four days after Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff stood in front of assembled media and downplayed any thoughts the conference was on the verge of collapse, people continue to pick through the carcass.

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that the Big Ten is exploring the possibility of holding its future championship games where the Pac-12 as we know it will have just one more — at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Last rites haven't even been given to the remnants of Kliavkoff's ill-fated league, which lost six members to the Big Ten and the Big 12 combined, since holding its annual media day, and everything is being carted away.

The Huskies, Oregon, USC and UCLA, each bound for the Big Ten in 2024, have the opportunity to play in the Pac-12 title game in Vegas this December and possibly do it again while members of the Midwest conference in two year's time.

The Big Ten has held its championship games at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis since 2011 and its contract is up for renewal following the 2024 contest.

The Pac-12 has held its championship game in Allegiant Stadium the past two years and has a third scheduled for this December.

Meantime, USC will play LSU in a regular-season game in the Las Vegas facility that seats 65,000 in 2024 as a member of the Big Ten.

The Huskies have been involved in football games in the Nevada city twice before, both times in the Las Vegas Bowl at Sam Boyd Stadium on the outskirts.  They beat Boise State 38-7 in 2019 and lost to the Broncos 28-26 in 2012.
