Huskies Pursue Local Offensive Tackle Tipping Scales at 340 Pounds

In this story:
Demetri Manning's college football recruitment is a lot like his massive teenage frame — both have been growing exponentially in the offseason.
As of Saturday, the Bellevue High School offensive tackle and class of 2025 prospect was packing a healthy 6-foot-7 and 340-pound dimensions.
Meantime, Kalen DeBoer's University of Washington recruiters offered Manning a scholarship, giving him six so far: California, Colorado, Hawaii, Louisville, Nevada and Washington.
His body might not get much bigger, but the offer total is sure to multiple several times over as more and more schools learn of this budding junior.

Whereas Bellevue High players have given the Huskies a nice foundation of talent over decades past — it's been a while since they've successfully recruited a suburban program-changer from the Wolverines such as safety Budda Basker.
Manning has gained 10 pounds since the high school football ended, yet he hasn't lost any of his speed or agility.
In April, in fact, Manning was selected offensive-lineman MVP at the Champion USA National Prep Showcase, by combining his flexility with his bulk to become a scary physical presence. Highlight footage shows him driving a kid into ground.

Martin also represents a viable Northwest prospect for DeBoer's coachable staff, which has made it a goal to find more local talent able and willing to play football in Montlake.
