Huskies Will Accrue Most Miles Traveled In The Pac-12

In this story:
The Huskies are facing a much tougher schedule in 2023 compared to 2022. Replacing UCLA and Colorado with USC and Utah is tough enough, but Kalen DeBoer's team is also going to have to travel more miles than any team in the Pac-12 during the season.
Granted, a lot of Washington's conference-leading 9,907 miles will be accrued during its 2,276-mile journey to East Lansing to take on Michigan State, there are a few lengthy in-conference trips in front of them too.
Washington is staring down a 1,153-mile trip to take on USC, as well as a 1,524-mile journey to the University of Arizona. While the extra air miles aren't going to make or break the season for the Huskies, the coaching staff needs to make sure its team is ready for the challenge.

Sleep and nutrition are two very important factors when preparing for a game, especially when those factors can be thrown off due to a different schedule on the road. Kalen DeBoer has covered all his bases to make sure his staff can help his players prepare for any obstacles in their way.
Upon his arrival, DeBoer hired Ben Creamer as the director of Sports Science and Alison VandenBerghe as the diirector of Football Performance Nutrition. VandenBerghe's role didn't exist during Jimmy Lake's time at the helm and Creamer seems to have a very different set of responsibilities compared to his predecessor, Kyle Sammons.
In what could be a banner year for the Huskies in 2023, preparation and performance on the road is going to be an important piece of Washington's success. Traveling farther than any team in the conference is going to be a tall task, but is certainly manageable.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
