There was a lot of questions about the Washington Huskies defense before the 2019 season began. There would be a lot of gaping holes that needed to be filled and questions about who would fill them.

Who would fill the shoes of Taylor Rapp. Greg Gaines. Byron Murphy, Ben Burr-Kirven and Jordan Miller - All players who were drafted in the 2019 NFL draft. With so many new and young guys having to step up and fill the void left by these defensive superstars, many Husky fans thought that there would be a serious drop off in production. Well, 5 games into the season, this is an impressive stat that jumps off the page regarding this defensive unit:

While there is definitely room for this unit to improve, the fact that they do not give up the big play is impressive at this point of the 2019 season. With so many young defenders, Husky fans should be hopeful that these players will continue to improve and that the legacy of great Husky defenses is in good hands.
