Instant Reactions: Stanford 23 UW 13

What We Saw
Stanford salted away the victory over Washington playing with three freshmen offensive linemen and a 3rd string quarterback.
Washington QB, Jacob Eason looked more like Jake Browning than Jacob Eason vs Stanford Saturday night. His play was inconsistent and lackluster (16 of 36 for 206 yards passing - 1 TD and 1 INT)
Washington’s tight ends (Hunter Bryant and Cade Otton) virtually disappeared vs The Cardinal.
Stanford running back, Cameron Scarlett turned the purple and gold black and blue Saturday night. He finished the day with a bruising 151 yards on 33 carries.
Washington’s defensive back, Elijah Molden, dropped a game-tying pick 6 in the 4th quarter.
Key Stats:
Stanford's final drive was 9 plays for 29 yards eating up just over 5 minutes of the game clock.
TE Hunter Bryant, one of Jacob Eason’s favorite targets, finished the game with 1 reception for 8 yards.
Aaron Fuller had 9 receptions for 171 yards, but also had some critical drops at very important times Saturday. The other husky receivers had 2 receptions for 10 yards. Combined.
Turning Point
The turning point of the game was Stanford's second drive. On Stanford's opening drive the Cardinal went 80 yards on 11 plays, eating up 5 minutes of the game clock. Washington's defense bent but did not break, but they also couldn't get off of the field. On Stanford's next drive they proved that the first drive wasn't a fluke as they drove 73 yards in 13 plays. Both drives ended in Cardinal field goals, but Stanford proved that they could push Washington around.
Key Matchup
No surprise here - Stanford's offensive line against Washington's defensive line. It wasn't supposed to go like that as the Cardinal were starting two freshmen linemen. But they kept their QB, David Mills' jersey clean all night. Stanford lost another lineman along the way and still didn't miss a beat vs the Husky defense.
Where Do They Go From Here
Back to the drawing board for the Dawgs this week and then it’s off to the desert to Face Arizona (4-1 overall) and quarterback Kalil Tate, who threw for 400 yards against Colorado on Saturday. Washington falls to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference. They are no longer in control of their own destiny and need both Cal and Oregon to lose games in order to have a shot at another Pac 12 championship.
