Muhammad Has Been As Good As Advertised Early On for UW

In this story:
When Jabbar Muhammad announced his transfer to Washington, he was considered one of the best available defenders in the transfer portal. Through two games, he has lived up to that billing as the Huskies' top cornerback.
Following the Huskies' 43-10 win over Tulsa, Muhammad received an 84.2 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, the highest mark given to a Washington defender that day.
The sophomore defensive back was also the UW's best defender in coverage with an 81.7 grade over 21 snaps. He permitted two catches for 16 yards on five targets that came his way, but his best play was a cornerback blitz.
Muhammad rushed the passer and had to go the width of the field to track down Tulsa quarterback Roman Fuller for the first sack of his career. It was the highlight of an all-around impressive performance, which included four tackles and a pass break-up.
He also received high praise from his teammates for his impact both on and off the field. After the game, UW linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio said, "I've never seen a cornerback make a sack on a play like that."

"He's taught me a lot," Husky cornerback Davon Banks said. "He's taught me how to attack the film room, different footwork, different techniques that he learned out at Oklahoma State. He's really helped me."
After the departure of NFL-bound corners Trent McDuffie and Kyler Gordon following the 2021 season, Washington has been searching for a true No. 1 corner to take their place.
Muhammad finally might be that guy.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
