New Dawg Report: Curley Reed

In this story:
When news broke that Curley Reed was a last-minute addition to Washington's gigantic list of official visitors at the end of June of 2022, it came as a shock to most of the fanbase, and those of us covering the team as well.
While his commitment wasn't as big of a surprise, it was an exciting boost for the class of 2023. Reed became the first prospect from the state of Louisiana to commit to Washington since three-star linebacker Bradly Roussel in 2008. However, unlike Roussel, who didn't record any stats at Washington, Reed has the ability to step in and make an impact from day one.

Measuring in at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, Reed is a long, athletic corner who loves to play press man coverage and get in the face of the receiver across from him. Reed is also excellent in run support. He spent some time at free safety with Lake Charles College Prep, and picked up a lot of skills that will be very useful at the next level. He knows how to keep his eyes in the backfield, and also how to be patient, waiting to shoot gaps and wrapping up ball carriers instead of arm tackling.

With the talent he possesses and high level of coaching he's received, Reed can step in and contribute right away. While it might take a while for him to adjust to the physicality of the college level, he could prove his readiness during fall camp and force his way onto the field.
The Huskies needed a lot of help in the secondary in 2022, and did a great job bringing in reinforcements in the class of 2023. Kalen DeBoer showed that he's not afraid to give secondary players early playing time, burning Jayvion Green's redshirt, and that could very well be the case for R

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
