Northern Cal DT Pulls Back on UW Commitment

In this story:
Josiah Sharma's commitment to the University of Washington football program lasted 27 days. He had made it public about six hours before the Huskies played Texas in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day in New Orleans.
On Saturday, the Northern California defensive lineman rescinded his pledge most likely because of the Montlake coaching change that took place two weeks ago and, interesting enough, after he received a San Diego State offer three days ago ... from former UW edge-rusher coach Eric Schmidt.
The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Sharma, considered somewhat of a college football project, had no offers until the Huskies, with Schmidt as the point man, presented him with one last May.

At that time, he was enrolled at Sacramento's Inderkum High School, but, according to the recruiting websites, he has since changed schools to Folsom High in that prison town farther north that previously sent quarterbacks Jake Browning and Austin Mack to the UW.
Meantime, Sharma has picked up scholarship offers from multiple schools, among them USC, California, Arkansas and Arizona.
So it appears Jedd Fisch's coaching staff was well versed on his potential and interested in him while in Tucson.
Ducks Digest, in the Sports Illustrated network, reports that Sharma is taking an Oregon visit this weekend.

The big guy took an unofficial visit to Seattle in October to watch Washington's 36-33 victory over Oregon. He initially was a two-way lineman, but he appears to have made a concentrated effort to become a defensive player going forward as a college recruit.
Sharma is rated a 3-star prospect, according to 247 Sports, and he and 3-star quarterback Jackson Kollock from Laguna Beach, California, were the first two pending commits for the UW's next recruiting class in 2025 when Kalen DeBoer took the Alabama job. Both have since reopened their recruiting.
