In this story:

Everyone was at their competitive best for the 115th University of Washington-Oregon football game. Michael Penix Jr. Bo Nix. Rome Odunze. Bucky Irving. Kalen DeBoer. Dan Lanning. Skylar Lin.

Lin?

On Saturday at Husky Stadium, he was the lanky UW student with the long-lens camera in hand, scurrying about the sidelines and capturing potential award-winning images with every huge play that unfolded.

With a crowd of 71,321 roaring its thunderous approval or groaning loudly through the back and forth, and ESPN cameras perched everywhere to enable the rest of the country to have a front-row seat, it might have been tough for any other photographer to stay focused.

Not Skylar Lin.

A scary scenario for any defender is having to run up and take on UW offensive tackle Troy Fautanu coming through the hole with a running start.

With 1:38 left to play, Rome Odunze beat Oregon cornerback Dontae Manning to this ball for a game-winning 18-yard touchdown.

Ja'Lynn Polk had a step on Oregon cornerback Khyree Jackson as he caught this 26-yard touchdown pass near the end of the opening quarter.

With all of the pregame accessories, which include Husky hoodie, big sunglasses and hipster headphones, Michael Penix Jr. walks into Husky Stadium.

Giles Jackson made his season debut for the UW after suffering a fall camp wrist or hand injury and caught a 26-yard touchdown pass.

UW cornerback Jabbar Muhammad and edge rusher Bralen Trice celebrate a big defensive play during Saturday's game at Husky Stadium.

Rome Odunze looks to shoot an imaginary arrow while Oregon's Jahlil Florence gets in his way in Saturday's game at Husky Stadium.

A makeshift chef serves a pregame duck dinner to the Husky mascot while students enjoy the UW football theater before the big game.

The UW's Drew Fowler delivers one of the biggest hits of the game when he levels Oregon returner Tez Johnson on the first punt of the game.

A happy Kalen DeBoer shares in a postgame interview with ESPN's Holly Rowe after his Huskies pulled out a thrilling 36-33 victory over rival Oregon.

He showed up in the shadowy early morning hours for ESPN College GameDay on campus. When the Huskies arrived by bus and continued on to their stadium walk-through, Lin was with them step for step. He even went out for the pregame coin toss and a photo.

He caught the fans yelling and screaming and the players ever so serious in a game that lived up to all of its advance billing coming in.

He got so close to some of the touchdown catches, Lin might as well have been in pass coverage. The Ducks could have used him — they lost their starting cornerbacks on the same play in the third quarter.

Someone had to win the highly competitive game and the Huskies took upon themselves to send their fans home happy.

After Oregon missed a game-tying field on the final play, Lin still wasn't done for the day. He ended up in the middle of a crush of Husky fans that spilled onto the field to celebrate a big win.

Check out Skylar's accompanying photo gallery. You'll feel like you're standing right next to him, watching everything unfold all over again. Enjoy the replay.
