New Washington football coach Jedd Fisch landed his first commitment late Saturday night, with former Arizona running back Jonah Coleman posting a video on social media announcing his transfer.

The 5-foot-9, 225-pound rising junior from Stockton, California, will have two years of eligibility remaining after playing 25 games for the Wildcats the past two seasons.

Coleman, one of several former Arizona players visiting the UW this weekend, rushed for 1,243 yards and 9 touchdowns on 203 attempts in his career for Fisch and offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll in Tucson.

With UW's leading rusher Dillon Johnson off to the NFL draft, Tybo Rogers in the transfer portal and Cam Davis recovering from a knee injruy, the Huskies had a clear void in the running back position group.

"Thank you, Tucson, but I think it's time for the next step in my life,"  Coleman said at the end of a highlight montage announcing his decision. "With that being said, I'll be committing to the University of Washington. Go Dawgs,"

Coleman committed to Fisch and running-backs coach Scottie Graham as a 3-star recruit out of Lincoln High School in Stockton in the 2022 class.

After playing in a reserve role as a freshman, Coleman emerged as the Wildcats' lead back in 2023 by totaling 871 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns.

Coleman beat out a pair of seniors, DJ Williams and Michael Wiley, for the majority of attempts at running back while rushing for more yards than both players combined.

Pro Football Focus had Coleman as the second-highest graded running back in the Pac-12 this past season with a 93.4 run grade, just behind Oregon's Jordan James, who edged him out with a 94.8 grade.

Coleman will bring a similar tough-nose rushing attack that Dillon Johnson demonstrated this past season. Both had nearly the same amount of yards after contact — 699 yards for Johnson and 646 for Coleman.
