His first University of Washington long snap sailed over the punter's head, leading to an Oregon State touchdown during the COVID-impacted 2020 season, but once Jaden Green got through all of that initial confusion, he enjoyed a fairly successful Husky career.

This past season, he scored on a two-point conversion catch. He made another tackle on a punt, giving him eight in his career. He was spotless with his long snaps for the past three seasons.

So with that momentum built up, Green disclosed on Tuesday that's he forgoing his remaining season of UW eligibility and making himself available for an NFL career.

"I love the city of Seattle and all the amazing experiences and memories it has given me," he wrote on Instagram. "And to every coach, I am forever grateful. After careful consideration and talks with my family and coaches, I have decided to declare for the NFL Draft."

While not a lot of long snappers get drafted, Green might be the exception. At 5-foot-11 and 219 pounds, he's been a serious weight-lifter and become a solidly built athlete, more so than most of his peers. Plus, he caught that conversion pass on a trick play in a 43-10 victory over Tulsa, further demonstrating his overall skill level as a football player.

From Mesa, Arizona, he's the son of former Arizona State running back Gerald Green. He already set a standard at the UW by coming in as a snapper with a scholarship in hand, which is rare, with most players in his position having to earn them as walk-ons.

"I love to live up to it," he said of his scholarship. "Do my job and see what I'm worth."

Now it's on to the NFL see what else he can do that's out of the ordinary.
