In this story:

The University of Washington football team has found touchdowns and yards far easier to come by than poll advancement, yet the Huskies moved up a spot after thumping California 59-32 over the weekend and even drew a first-place vote.

The UW (4-0) now sits at No. 7, as one of three teams to leapfrog USC (4-0), which dropped three spots to eighth after voters apparently felt the Trojans didn't beat Arizona State as bad as they should after settling for a 42-28 win.

However, the Huskies and USC remained two of four Pac-12 teams to earn a top 10 ranking this week, joined by Oregon (4-0) and Utah (4-0) at ninth and 10th, respectively.

Overall, the Pac-12 had six ranked teams after Colorado (3-1) and UCLA (3-1) each lost for the first time and fell out of the top 25.

The Huskies received one first-place vote, one of six teams that had at least one, and totaled 1,228 points, 16 fewer than Penn State (4-0).

Two-time defending national champ Georgia (4-0) topped the poll with 55 first-place votes, with 1,562 points holding a 117-point edge over No. 2 Michigan (4-0), which was followed by Texas, Ohio State and Florida State.

Kalen DeBoer's UW team has won 11 consecutive games, over two seasons while his former team, Fresno State (4-0), entered the poll this week with a 13-game win streak. Georgia holds the nation's longest win streak at 17.
