Who Will Start at Cornerback for the Huskies?

In this story:
Washington is in a great position to make a run toward the College Football Playoff in 2023. However, the defense needs to take a step forward from its 60th overall ranking in yards allowed in 2022.
If the Huskies can knock off 20 yards from last year's total, moving from 372 yards allowed per game to 352, that would signify a significant bump in production and execution. It would also push Washington from 60th overall up to 38th, which is more in line with a playoff-caliber defense.
One way to achieve that goal is to improve at cornerback. After injuries decimated the position in 2022, the coaching staff made some upgrades through the transfer portal and is also counting on some returners to make an impact.

Thaddeus Dixon seems to be the trendy option to start opposite Oklahoma State transfer Jabbar Muhammad. The transfer from Long Beach City College made major waves over the course of spring practice. The long, hard-nosed corner brings a much-needed attitude to the Husky defense and will be a major piece of the rotation at the very least.
Elijah Jackson has become the grizzled veteran in the room. The fourth-year sophomore and excellent athlete struggled with injuries in 2022 but has taken extra steps to recover and take care of his body to ensure he can contribute in a much larger role in 2023.
Jaivion Green had his ups and downs during his freshman year when he was thrust into action too soon by the coaching staff. He improved every facet of his game in the offseason and the big, physical defensive back from Texas looks like he's ready for more responsibility in co-defensive coordinator Chuck Morrell's scheme.
With fall camp less than a month away, the coaching staff should make a decision soon on who will get the starting nod. However, the Huskies have assembled a deep and talented group at cornerback that should help the defense improve in 2023.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
