3-Star TE Decker DeGraaf Commits to Washington

In this story:
As Washington's offensive class begins to come together, tight-ends coach Nick Sheridan secured a flexible playmaker in Decker DeGraaf to add to it. He becomes the third recruit to commit during the Huskies' big weekend of official visits and the fourth member of the class of 2024.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound tight end is currently ranked as the 702nd overall player in the country, but his film and offer list speak to him potentially rising up the rankings with a big senior season. He chose the Huskies over 15 other offers, including Arkansas, Michigan State and Utah, all schools that he took official visits to in the month of June.

DeGraaf, a product of Glendora High School in California, looks like a seamless fit for the offense Kalen DeBoer runs. He's a very good route runner for a high school tight end, breaks tackles with ease and also shows proficiency as a run blocker.
In DeBoer's offense, he's going to be asked to do a lot of both. While he'll most likely redshirt during his first year on campus, there's going to be a lot of competition at the position.

The coaching staff is starting to use more two tight-end sets in passing situations to create mismatches with the defense. It's clearly very high on former four-star tight end Ryan Otton, as well as Cal Poly transfer Josh Cuevas, who will probably be the future of the position after Devin Culp and Jack Westover leave following the 2023 season.
DeGraaf is another talented piece to add to the group as the Huskies continue to find success on the recruiting trail in California. For a full scouting report on him, click here!

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
