In this story:

Folsom High School has treated the Washington Huskies very well over the years. The Bay Area school produced Washington's all-time leading passer Jake Browning, as well as a host of other talent.

The Huskies will have two Folsom alumni on their roster in 2023, quarterback Austin Mack and running back Daniyel Ngata. Now, they're looking to add a few more in the class of 2026.

After extending an offer to quarterback Ryder Lyons, the coaching staff also offered one of his receivers, Jameson Powell. Washington became the fourth school to offer Powell, following Colorado, Oregon State, and San Diego State.

Since he's working with a future four-star quarterback in Lyons, watching Powell's tape is a bit of a different process compared to other talented receivers. He doesn't have to worry about ball placement nearly as much as others might, so he has an opportunity to work on fine tuning his route running.

Listed at 5-10 and 150 pounds, Powell mainly lines up in the slot and looks like that's where he would thrive at the college level. He runs well, but he does the majority of his damage getting in and out of breaks. He shows off excellent footwork and is incredibly tough to cover in tight spaces.

As he continues to add weight and grow into his frame, Powell is going to get better at shedding tacklers. If he can take hits while securing catches over the middle on a consistent basis, he's going to be a reliable target for a Power 5 quarterback.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
