Will Nixon Leaves Huskies After 2 Seasons

Will Nixon, a reserve running back for two seasons, has left the University of Washington football program less than a week before spring practice begins, a school official confirmed.
The 5-foot-11, 202-pound junior from Waco, Texas, was the Huskies' second-leading rusher this past season with 33 carries for 203 yards and a touchdown, appearing in all 15 games. He also caught 13 passes for 84 yards.
Over the weekend, Nixon was shown in a social-media posting having dinner with all of the Husky running backs at a Lake Union restaurant, so his decision was kind of sudden.
Kalen DeBoer's previous UW football staff brought Nixon to Montlake from Nebraska, where he had been a wide receiver for two seasons. He should have two seasons of college eligibility remaining.
In 2022, Nixon appeared in 11 Husky games and rushed 21 times for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns, and caught 7 passes for 66 yards.
Nixon's father, Jeff, currently is the Syracuse offensive coordinator and running-backs coach, so that might be a destination for the younger Nixon.
The Huskies aren't short of running backs with Arizona transfer Jonah Coleman, the Wildcats' leading rusher with 892 yards last season and an All-Pac-12 honorable-mention selection, following coach Jedd Fisch to the UW, and joining holdover players in Cam Davis, Tybo Rogers and Sam Adams II.
