Blaine Traxel Earns Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

West Virginia starting pitcher Blaine Traxel picks up Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

On Monday, the Big 12 announced West Virginia hurler Blaine Traxel as the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.

Traxel collected his first win of the season with a 5-1 decision over the Arizona Wildcats in game two of a three-game series. The Cal State Northridge tossed the conferences first complete game of the season Saturday, holding Arizona to five hits and a single run whole striking out six to pick up the win. The righty retired 21 of the last 24 Wildcats he faced, including the final 13 to step up to the plate.

Traxel holds a 1.29 ERA in the season with seven strikeouts.
