Multiple Mountaineers Shine in Appalachian League All-Star Game

Mountaineers Cole Fehrman, Hayden Cooper, Nick Barrone, Sam White, and Ellis Garcia represented their respective summer league teams in the Appalachian League All-Star Game on Tuesday. 

Sophomore Ellis Garcia went 1-2 with an RBI on the night. He recorded the East's first only RBI in the second inning with a high chopping ground ball back up the middle to bring the east within one. RBI single in the second inning to get the East within a run. 

Sophomore Sam White was the lone All-Star to reach base three times, going 2-3 with a walk and a stolen base in the contest. His leadoff single in the fourth led to the game-tying run after a balk moved White to second and a one-out single from teammate Koby Kropf advanced him to third before scoring on a wild pitch to knot the game at two. 

Sophomore Nick Barrone was 0-1 in two plate appearances on the evening but registered the game-winning run in the eighth with a deep sacrifice RBI fly ball to centerfield for the 3-2 West advantage. 

Sophomore Cole Fehrman stepped onto the mound in the top of the sixth and struck out two in two thirds of an inning for the East. 

Incoming transfer Hayden Cooper came into the ninth secured the win for the West in the ninth with a pair of strikeouts for the save.
