No. 11 West Virginia Set to Square off Against a Hot Oklahoma Program

Morgantown, WV - The West Virginia Mountaineers (34-11, 11-4) will look to protect their nine-game winning streak as they host the Oklahoma Sooners (25-20, 9-9) for a three-game weekend series. All games will stream on ESPN+.
West Virginia junior Ben Hampton (4-1, will take the mound in the series Friday night, with the first pitch set for 6:30. The lefty has collected three wins in five Big 12 appearances this season.
Blaine Traxel is expected to start Saturday in game two against the Sooners with the first pitch scheduled for four o’clock and the series finale will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with both Sunday starters listed as a game time decision.
Oklahoma is slated to counter with senior right-hander Braxton Douthit (4-3, 4.26 ERA) in game one and senior lefty Braden Carmichael (4-0, 3.59) in game two.
The Mountaineers are coming off a program-setting two consecutive conference series sweeps and have squarely positioned themselves atop the Big 12 Conference standings.
Big 12 Conference Player of the Year candidate J.J. Wetherholt leads the league in batting average (.470), slugging percentage (.813), on base percentage (.528), OPS (1.341), runs (58). hits (78), and stolen bases (32).
The sophomore has hit .583 with four home runs and 16 RBIs in the last six games after a five-game absence with a left-hand injury.
Landon Wallace would potentially be riding a five-game hitting streak if he had not been beaned by six pitches in the Baylor series last weekend. However, in the last two games, the junior was 5-7 at the plate with four RBIs and a home run.
Oklahoma has won five of their last six conference games, including a sweep of Texas, to get back to .500 in league play, and notched a win over No. 16 Dallas Baptist on Tuesday. The Sooners slow start is attributed to multiple injuries in illnesses throughout the season. Oklahoma has played 14 of its 45 games with every player on the roster available for action - the first 12 games of the season and the last two contests.

Junior right fielder Bryce Madron has a team-high nine home runs while Junior infielder Dakota Harris leads the team with 14 multiple hit games and has a team-high 37 RBIs.
