Morgantown, WV - The No.24 West Virginia Mountaineers cap off a six-game homestand against the Marshall Thundering Herd (11-10) Tuesday night at Monongalia County Ballpark with the first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. and streaming on ESPN+.

West Virginia comes into the game having won 12 of its last 14 games but both losses came within a week, including a home loss to a sub .500 Hofstra squad last Tuesday which snapped a nine-game winning streak. The Mountaineers bounced back with a nice series win over Xavier last weekend.

Sophomore second baseman J.J. Wetherholt leads college baseball with 45 hits and leads the Big 12 Conference in batting average (.455), doubles (11), and stolen bases (23) to go with a team-leading six homeruns. He had a walk-off base hit against Xavier Friday night in the tenth inning to take game one of the series.

Senior Tevin Tucker and freshman Ellis Garcia are second on the team in batting average at .319 while junior Braden Barry has collected a hit in 13 of the last 14 games, nine of which were multi-hit games.

Aidan Major will make his third start of the season for the Mountaineers Tuesday night. The sophomore has 15 strikeouts in 14.0 innings of work but holds a 6.43 ERA on the year.

The Herd is expected to counter with senior Chad Heiner. The righty has a 3.92 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 13.2 innings and picked up a win in his only start of the season against Cincinnati.

Marshall is limping into the game having lost six of the last nine games, including the last two weekend series.

Senior Luke Edwards leads Marshall with a .322 batting average and seven doubles while junior Owen Ayers has a team-best 20 RBI and four home runs.

West Virginia leads the all-time series versus Marshall 52-25 and the Mountaineer are 14-4 against the Herd under head coach Randy Mazey. WVU has won four-straight over Marshall.
