West Virginia Drops Game 2 to Kansas State

Manhattan, KS - The Kansas State Wildcats (19-10, 5-3) slowed the West Virginia offense to four hits and powered past the Mountaineers (20-7, 1-1) with five home runs to even the series with a 7-1 decision Saturday evening.
Five different Wildcats hit solo home runs in the contest, starting with cleanup hitter Brady Day putting K-State on the board in the bottom of the second inning.
Roberto Pena led Kansas State at the plate with a pair of hits and two RBIs. The senior hit a solo home run in the third and notched an RBI walk in the eighth as part of a three-run after back-to-back solo shots from Dom Hughes and Nick Goodwin to begin the inning.
West Virginia starting Blaine Traxel recorded his second loss of the season after five consecutive wins and marked only the third game in seven appearances he did not throw a complete game.
Landon Wallace recorded the Mountaineers lone run with a two-out RBI double in the fourth after his seven-game hit streak was snapped in game one.
The Mountaineers look to take the series Sunday afternoon with the first pitch set for 2:00 p.m. EST and streaming on ESPN+.
