Morgantown, WV - The West Virginia Mountaineers (15-4) host the Hofstra Pride (6-12) in a two-game midweek series with game one set for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and the series finale scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday for the first ever meeting between the two programs.

The Mountaineers come into the week riding a nine-game winning streak and outscored their opponents 113-23 during the stretch.

J.J. Wetherholt his batting a league-leading .462 and a league high 17 steals. The sophomore is also ranks second in doubles with nine and his 25 RBIs places him fourth.

Junior Braden Barry is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak. The Louisville, Kentucky, native upped his season batting average from .115 through the first seven games to currently hitting .308.

Sophomore Aidan Major is scheduled to take the mound in the first game. The sophomore right-hander went four innings with five strikeouts in the Mountaineers 18-1 win over Appalachian State last week.

Gavin Van Kemp will look to bounce back following a rough outing a week ago but the WVU bats freshman’s back with an 18-run effort and the bullpen held Appalachian State scoreless to keep the blemish off his record. The 6-foot-6 right-hander collected his first career win in the Mountaineers home-opener two weeks ago.

Hofstra avoided a series sweep versus William & Mary with a 4-3 decision on Sunday. The Pride is off to a rocky start after winning the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament and a NCAA Regional appearance.

Senior Will Kennedy leads the team with a .377 batting average while Zach Bailey has two home runs. Preseason All-CAA Team selections Kevin Bruggeman and Ryan Morash are batting over .300.
