Wetherholt Captures Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week

On Monday, the Big 12 Conference announced West Virginia sophomore J.J. Wetherholt and Oklahoma junior Chase Adkinson as the Co-Big 12 Baseball Player's of the Week.
Wetherholt recorded eight hits last week, batting .500 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs while the Mountaineers went 3-1, notching a season series win over Pitt and claimed their program tying seven Big 12 Conference series with a series deciding 5-3 win over Texas Tech on Sunday.
The All-American candidate is batting an NCAA-leading .466 while leading the conference in slugging percentage (.829), on base percentage (.530), OPS (1.359), runs (64). hits (90), and stolen bases (35) to go with a team-high 14 home runs. The Mars, PA native is coming off a 3-4 performance in the Backyard Brawl, highlighted by a two-run home run, to help propel the Mountaineers for a 9-8 win a season series sweep of the Pitt Panthers.
