Wetherholt's .449 batting average is the best in program history, and the 2023 best in Division I. Composing that average: sixteen home runs, 24 doubles, a pair of triples, 60 RBI, 67 runs scored, and 36 stolen bases. The Mars, Pa. native lit up the Mountaineer order this season, recording multiple-hit outings 33 times and reaching base in all but two games.

Wetherholt's addition to the NCBWA All-America First Team places him in rarefied air among the greats of the WVU Baseball program. He's just the third Mountaineer to earn a spot among the first team, joining Jedd Gyorko (2010) and Alek Manoah (2019). He's only the 25th player in program history to be named an All-American.
