West Virginia University second baseman J.J. Wetherholt is listed as 'day-to-day' after suffering a hand injury in the Mountaineers win over the No. 14 Oklahoma State Friday night.

The sophomore was injured stealing second base following his third hit of the evening. His hand got stuck under the bag as he safely slid headfirst into second, and it looked as if it was a season ending injury. However, Saturday afternoon, the WVU Athletics Communications Department announced the x-rays came back negative.

Wetherholt came into the weekend ranked second in the NCAA with 61 hits, but after going 3-4 on Friday night, he caught up to the leader Jonah Cox (Oral Roberts), who has notched one more game than Wetherholt, both have 64 hits on the year.

Wetherholt currently leads the Big 12 in batting average (.451), doubles (16), stolen bases (27) and runs (43) and ranks second in the league in slugging percentage (.746), OPS (1.264), and on base percentage (.518).

West Virginia will look to take the series from No. 14 Oklahoma State in game two Saturday night with the first pitch set for 7:00 p.m.
