What the ESPN BPI Says About WVU vs. TCU

The Mountaineers look to send the seniors off with a win.

West Virginia will close out the home portion of the 2023-24 regular season schedule tonight when they host the TCU Horned Frogs at 7 p.m. EST.

According to the ESPN BPI, West Virginia has a 23.7% chance to win while the Horned Frogs have a 76.3% chance.

Since the start of February, the Mountaineers have won just one game which was a 10-point win at home over UCF. Although their last three outings have resulted in losses, they've been extremely competitive and had a chance to win but fell apart at different spots of the second half for various reasons. They jumped out to a 20-4 lead over Texas Tech on Saturday, but the offense cooled off considerably in the second half which led to an 11-point defeat.

Meanwhile, TCU has been hot and cold all throughout Big 12 Conference play and right now, they're in desperate need of a win, having lost three of their last four. Fortunately for them, they get a team that's down bad and one they've already beaten by double digits.

When these two met in mid-February, TCU exploded for a 47-point first half en route to a 81-65 win. The Frogs carved up WVU in the paint, out-scoring the Mountaineers inside 44-18. Turnovers were also an issue for WVU that night, throwing it away 19 times.

If they can manage to get out to a better start defensively, take care of the basketball, and get to the free throw line, they'll be in position to send the seniors out on a high note.
