Mountaineers Top Big 12 Standings & Show No Signs of Slowing Down

For the first time in program history, West Virginia swept a three-game series against the TCU Horned Frogs and did so in fashion, sending the Frogs back to Fort Worth with a 17-7 loss to think about.
With the sweep, WVU moves into first place in the Big 12 Conference with a 29-11 (8-4) record on the year. What's most impressive about the weekend is they were without the nation's top hitter, JJ Wetherholt, for much of the series. He had been out roughly a week with a hand injury and on Sunday, he made his return to the plate and smashed a three-run, bases-clearing double to right field to blow the game open.
Some around the college baseball industry took note of WVU's sweep and see them as potential regional hosts. West Virginia has hosted a regional just once in program history, which occurred in 2019.
Boy, what a weekend for @WVUBaseball. The Mountaineers run rule #TCU 17-7 today to sweep that series. JJ Wetherholt returns to the lineup and hits a double, two hits and has four RBIs. That's the way you get back into hosting contention.

The Mountaineers aim to secure win No. 30 on the year when they host Penn State on Tuesday night. Friday-Sunday, they will welcome in the Baylor Bears, who currently sit dead last in the Big 12 at 15-25 (6-12).
