Gondrezick, No. 24 West Virginia rolls by Texas Tech 73-53

West Virginia women's basketball used a first half run to defeat the Lady Raiders on Wednesday night 73-53.

Kysre Gondrezick scored 24 points, including 12 in the second quarter during a 22-9 run to lead the No. 24 Mountaineers past the Lady Raiders 73-53 on Wednesday night.

Esmery Martinez had 16 points and 9 rebounds, Jasmine Carson had 12 points and Kari Niblack added 10 points and 9 rebounds for the Mountaineers.

West Virginia (12-2, 6-2 Big 12) didn't trail since taking the lead 6-5 with 6:27 remaining in the first half to win their seventh straight game, including nine in a row against Texas Tech.

"I don't know. We've been fortunate. We've had some good games with them, some close games," West Virginia head coach Mike Carey said on the nine-game streak. "We feel fortunate today. We're a little bit short-handed and came out a step slow and was able to get the win, so we feel very fortunate."
